Welcome to our website!

Southern Suburbs Chess Club, established in December 2014, is one of Perth's largest chess clubs. We organise and run ACF- and FIDE-rated chess tournaments for the benefit of Perth chess players, with a view to raising the profile of our game in WA.

Our club has players of all ages. Our members range in playing strength from beginners up to leading WA players, including current and past WA Champions and WA Junior Champions in various age groups.

Southern Suburbs Chess Club is affiliated with the Chess Association of WA. Because of this, our players receive CAWA membership on joining the club, allowing them to participate in adult and junior tournaments run by the CAWA.

We support the development of junior chess by running the Southern Suburbs Junior Chess Club. This club provides coaching sessions for relatively new junior players. Older, more experienced juniors are encouraged to join the adult club.

Our club also competes in the Harris Interclub Competition run by the CAWA, winning all 3 divisions in 2017 and in doing so, retaining the Division A and B trophies which the club has held since 2015.

Whether you are an SSCC member or an interested newcomer, here you will find all the information that you are looking for: club location and meeting times, tournament results, information about upcoming events, contact details for club officers, and more.

Visitors are always welcome at SSCC. If you are interested in chess and haven't been to the club before, feel free to drop in on a Tuesday evening to say hello, enjoy a cup of coffee, and have a few games with some of our club players.
